Here’s how box-office queen Deepika Padukone trumped Kangana Ranaut in 2015!

Here’s how box-office queen Deepika Padukone trumped Kangana Ranaut in 2015!

Deepika Padukone has time and again proved that she is here to stay. Be it her Om Shanti Om’s Shanti or Tamasha’s Taara, each character has been outlined to perfection by this suave actress who gets into the skin of every role and brings forth an enigmatic screen presence. If you don’t know what I am saying then you probably didn’t have an encounter with her recent attempt as Mastani yet. Fret not, you can catch a glimpse of that in a theater nearby.
Moving on, Deepika has repeated her exciting career graph’s success of 2013 in 2015 all over again. The year started with a slow yet gripping film by Shoojit Sircar, Piku leading on to her career’s most interesting choice only after Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Tamasha. The film may not have ranked well on the box office but it did not fail to leave an impression in the hearts of the masses who understood the deep context rooted within the glossy script prepared by the dreamer Imtiaz Ali.
Then came another box office hit by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which we knew would fare well with the numbers. When a Bhansali film comes in the forefront, you don’t need words to critic it, there are some films that go beyond the conventional story-telling way and leave you with a grand cinematic experience to cherish for long. With Mastani, Deepika shed her girl next door look and donned the ethereal demeanor of a historic character screaming to come back to life.
While Deepika was Piku, Taara and Mastani, her contemporary Kangana Ranaut’s Tanu and Dutto was the one that stood out. The actress was also dealing with many controversies regarding her film with Sunny Deol, I Love NY, which was released soon after Tanu Weds Manu 2 probably to cash in n the success of the much talked about film. And then came Katti Batti that slumped the entire year for the Queen star, which otherwise would have been a successful stint with TWM2.
While the actress was still trying to recover from the great hole Katti Batti created in her otherwise great career, rumours started pouring in of her starry tantrums. Apparently Kangana Ranaut, who edited a few portions of her film’s script, was later in news asking credits for the same. The actress also wanted to have the credit of a co-director in Vishal Bharadwaj’s forthcoming flick Rangoon. Says an insider, “Kangana has told them she wanted to be billed as co-director of the film. This would be a first in Bollywood if the makers agree to her demand. Never before has the leading lady of a film wanted to share credit with the director. And that too, someone established and respected like Vishal.”
Now that is a little too much to ask from your director now honey!
With so much going on and Kangy not even attending the awards function, we wonder how the actress will maintain her hold as one of the leading ladies in the country because as they say nothing is permanent, not even fame!

Bajirao Mastani: When Priyanka Chopra’s Kashibai looked sexier than Deepika Padukone’s Mastani!

While watching the Pinga song on the big screen, a lady journo (who happens to be a friend and a keen observer) sitting in the next chair, posed this question to me, almost instinctively, in the much-required hushed tone. “Honestly, whose gyrating kamriya holds your attention (read: seduces) better–Deepika’s or PeeCee’s?” she quizzed. Without batting an eyelid, I blurted out, “Priyanka, of course!” With a gentle nod and a prompt wink, the lady responded, “My sentiments exactly!”
Surely, Deepika Padukone as Mastani is all fabulousness, especially with her grace, but it is Priyanka Chopra’s sensuous Kashibai (Bajirao’s wife) who does the trick to the extent that you ask a pertinent question: If Kashibai was that hot, why did our Blazing Bajirao need a Mastani to do mohabbat (if notaiyasshi)?

Bajirao Mastani: Watch how Deepika Padukone transformed into Mastani

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone will be seen playing the role of Bajirao's second wife Mastani in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Bajirao Mastani. After Ranveer's transformation into Bajirao, Eros Now has now the video of how Deepika became Mastani on Twitter.
In this two-minute-video, Deepika talks in details about the character. She said, "Mastani for me is multi-tasking. She is a warrior princess, a lover, mother, nurturer and for me, in a sense she is someone who is complete. Like epitome of what a woman should be. I believe that a lot of women today in Indian culture are inherently Mastani somewhere. She is not only an inspiration but hugely identifiable."
In an earlier interview, Deepika had said that she had to learn sword-fighting for the film, which she would never have done in her personal life.
Playing a warrior princess in the film for Deepika had been a challenging task. She had earlier said, "It's been the toughest film of my career so far. It's been extremely draining - be it emotionally, mentally or physically. That's the nature of the film and the director that I have worked with."
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bajirao Mastani is a period drama starring Ranveer Singhas the 18th century Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao I, while his love interest, Mastani, is essayed by Deepika. Priyanka Chopra portrays Kashibai, the first wife of Bajirao. The film is slated to release on December 18 this year.

Deepika Padukone-Ranbir Kapoor pairing delightful: Ranveer Singh

Ranbir Singh and Deepika Padukone may have been together a few years ago but the past is firmly in the past now. So much so, Deepika’s now-boyfriend Ranveer Singh is happy to praise Ranbir, calling him an “inspiration and a stellar performer”.
Praising Tamasha and its lead pair, Ranveer said, “Tamasha is absolutely brilliant, extraordinarily fabulous and exceedingly nuanced. Ranbir, Deepika pairing is extremely special. They truly up their game. Whenever they come on screen they make the film delightful.”
The three were seen together at a party to celebrate Tamasha’s success. Ranveer said about Ranbir, ”Ranbir is a stellar performer. He inspires me, words are not enough to explain his talent. I really look up to him.”
The film narrates the story of internal conflict. It is about two individuals, who meet while on a holiday and decide to make-pretend during the trip, but problems erupt when they return to their real life. Tamasha released on November 27.
Ranveer hopes audience will give a similar reception to Bajirao Mastani in which he will be seen with Deepika. “I truly hope people go out in extensive numbers to watch our film. We have put our blood and tears in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s fantasy for a year. So we have worked so hard for it,” he said.
To get the perfect look of the Maratha emperor, Ranveer said he chose to shave off his head even though he had an option of going for artificial head cover for the historical film. “I decided to tonsure my head to look like Bajirao, though I had the option of using artificial head cover like other co-stars in the film, which was not a practical solution because it required one-and-half hour to apply before shooting and another one hour to remove it,” Ranveer said.
“I thought it would be better to shave off. After tonsuring, I had the biggest satisfaction of living up to the expectation of the role, since I knew it will not affect my other films as Bajirao shooting continued for next one-and-half year,” he said.
The actor has essayed the role of the 17th century Maratha ruler with Deepika as Mastani and Priyanka Chopra playing Bajirao’s wife Kashi Bai. “I had left family, friends and mobile for about 21 days and confined myself to the room of a hotel in Juhu and completely immersed myself in the role. When I came out of the hotel, I was bubbling with enthusiasm and a completely changed Bajirao in me,” the 30-year-old actor said.
On the controversies surrounding the film, Ranveer said it is for the producer and the director to make their stand clear. To a poser on parallels being drawn between his onscreen jodi with Deepika and the iconic pair of Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol, Ranveer said the two pairs have a different appeal and fan following.
